Nakhon Nayok Governor Takes Action Against Black Smoke from Vehicles

General

Nakhon Nayok: The governor of Nakhon Nayok Province has teamed up with the Department of Land Transport to address the persistent issue of black smoke emitted by vehicles, which is a significant contributor to the PM 2.5 pollution problem in the area. Mr. Chanon Wasiksiri, the Governor, actively participated in the inspection of black smoke checkpoints. These checkpoints involve the collaboration of the Nakhon Nayok Provincial Transport Office, Ban Na Police Station, Ban Na Highway Police, Ban Na District, and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, focusing on public buses and trucks near the Ban Na District Office along Highway No. 33 in Ban Na Subdistrict.

According to Thai News Agency, this area is a critical junction for various trucks and buses. Drivers are being advised to maintain their vehicles properly to ensure emissions do not surpass legal limits. Buses found violating these limits are immediately marked with a message prohibiting their use. The governor has issued directives for vehicle operators and owners of marked vehicles to have their vehicles repaired and retested at the Transport Office. Using a vehicle that is marked as prohibited is illegal.

The public is encouraged to contribute to the reduction of PM2.5 dust by reporting sightings of trucks and buses emitting excessive black smoke. They can send photos, including visible license plates, to the Passenger Protection and Complaint Center via the hotline at 1584, which is operational 24 hours a day.
