Bangkok: The National Blood Centre of the Thai Red Cross Society has announced its major initiative for 2026, titled "Give Blood Now - Donate Blood Now," which aims to encourage healthy individuals to regularly donate blood every three months. This endeavor seeks to maintain adequate blood reserves for hospitals across the nation.
According to Thai News Agency, statistics from the National Blood Center in 2025 revealed varying frequencies of blood donations. A significant 67.26% of donors, totaling 1,085,413 individuals, donated once a year. Meanwhile, 18.86% or 304,430 people donated twice annually. Those who donated three times numbered 147,529 people, representing 9.14%, while 70,174 individuals, or 4.35%, donated four times a year. Furthermore, a small group of 6,214 people, accounting for 0.38%, donated more than four times a year.
The campaign emphasizes the urgency of addressing the blood shortage crisis by encouraging donations three times in 2026. As an incentive, participants who meet this target will receive a special "Give Blood Now" t-shirt as a keepsake. These t-shirts can be claimed at the National Blood Centre on Henri Dunant Street and various fixed blood donation stations, including Red Cross Station 11 Wiset Niyom (Bang Khae), The Mall Lifestyle Store branches in Bang Khae, Bang Kapi, Ngam Wong Wan, and Tha Phra, as well as the Emporium Shopping Center and Baan Song Thai in the Wong Sawang area.
Additionally, twelve National Blood Service Centers across the country, located in Lopburi, Chonburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Ubon Ratchathani, Nakhon Sawan, Phitsanulok, Chiang Mai, Nakhon Si Thammarat (Thung Song), Songkhla, and Phuket, will also participate in this nationwide effort to bolster blood reserves.
