Nattawut Urges Chonburi to Back Pheu Thai Amid Political Rivalry

Chonburi: At a rally in Chonburi, Mr. Nattawut Saikua, campaign assistant for the Pheu Thai Party, called for residents to support Pheu Thai across the province. He expressed concerns over the political dynamics involving Mr. Sonthaya Khunpluem and Mr. Suchart Chomklin, suggesting that having two prominent figures from different parties in the same political space could lead to complications. He advised voters to opt for Pheu Thai to resolve potential conflicts.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nattawut, alongside Mr. Yotsanan Wongsawat, Pheu Thai’s prime ministerial candidate, held a rally at the Phanat Nikhom Municipal Hall. Reflecting on a past rally, he noted the fierce competition between Mr. Sonthaya, a former Minister of Culture, and Mr. Suchart, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment. Mr. Sonthaya, previously aligned with Pheu Thai, was opposed by Mr. Suchart, representing the Bhumjaithai Party in Chonburi Constituency 1. Nattawut expressed his past support for Sonthaya but highlighted that their current alliance within Bhumjaithai could present challenges.

Mr. Nattawut emphasized the unpredictable nature of politics, where alliances can shift. He remarked that the political landscape in Chonburi has often been described as “big houses versus big houses,” but urged voters to focus on individual merit rather than political labels. He voiced concerns about the potential power struggle within Bhumjaithai if both Sonthaya and Suchart emerged victorious, suggesting that Pheu Thai’s leadership would offer a more stable alternative.

He also highlighted plans laid by previous administrations under Prime Ministers Settha Thavisin and Paetongtarn Shinawatra, mentioning the anticipated arrival of the world-renowned music festival Tomorrowland in Chonburi. Though the event was delayed due to government changes, the festival is scheduled to run for 10 years starting in late 2026, promising significant economic benefits. Mr. Nattawut assured that Pheu Thai’s candidates in Chonburi are committed to serving the community effectively.
