Narathiwat: The explosion at the Srisakorn gas station was caused by a non-shrapnel bomb, according to initial investigations. The Deputy Governor of Narathiwat inspected the scene of the bomb attack in the restroom of the gas station, which was intended to create a loud noise and cause unrest.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wichan Chaiyasetthasampan, the Deputy Governor of Narathiwat Province, visited those injured in the restroom explosion at a PTT gas station in Srisakorn. He presented them with gift baskets to offer encouragement. While most victims were still shaken by the incident, their condition remained stable. The deputy governor then proceeded to the scene with Explosive Ordnance Disposal officers, soldiers, and police to collect evidence. Preliminary findings indicate the bomb was placed inside a vitamin C vial wrapped in tape.
Furthermore, fragments of mosquito repellent were discovered, suggesting the perpetrator used it as a fuse and placed the device in a trash can within the restroom. The explosion did not produce any shrapnel, pointing to an intention of simply creating a loud noise and causing disruption in the area. In response, the deputy governor has ordered increased security measures in high-risk areas, including the deployment of SOS warning signs.
