Pai Calls for Investigation into MP Yodchai’s Alleged Bribery Claims

Bangkok: "Pai" requests the House of Representatives to investigate the ethics of "MP Yodchai" after he exposed the alleged purchase of MPs for 55 million baht, citing failure to report the crime and potential false speech charges. Pai is preparing to submit the issue to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) and the Election Commission, expressing confidence that it could lead to the impeachment of "Pichet", emphasizing the importance of this as a lesson for emotionally-driven politicians.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pai Lik, MP for Kamphaeng Phet from the Kla Tham Party, has formally submitted a letter to Mr. Pichet Chueamuangphan, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, urging an investigation into the ethical conduct of Mr. Yodchai Phuengphon, MP for Chonburi of the Prachachon Party. This move follows Mr. Yodchai's speech during a mayoral election campaign on May 9, where he alleged the purchase of MPs, which was further disseminated through online media.

Mr. Pai presented a video clip of the speech, highlighting the severity of the allegations within the parliamentary institution. He stressed that the buying or selling of MPs represents a grave offense that threatens democratic principles. He argued that MPs aware of such illegal activities have a duty to address and penalize those responsible, rather than protecting them. Mr. Pai questioned the lack of investigation despite Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, the leader of the Prachachon Party, supposedly having clear evidence. He warned that if the allegations were false, Mr. Yodchai's actions could be deemed illegal. Mr. Pai committed to pursuing the matter through the NACC and, if necessary, the Election Commission.

Mr. Pai further stated that if the allegations proved unfounded, they could lead to impeachment, particularly as the speech was delivered during a municipal election campaign in Nong Prue. He challenged Mr. Nattapong and the Prachachon Party to re-examine the issue, given its significance and the party's history of investigating similar matters. Mr. Pai insisted that his party has never engaged in the purchase of MPs, attributing any internal issues to other factors.

Mr. Pichet acknowledged the complaint as a critical lesson for politicians, warning that emotionally charged public speeches could lead to significant repercussions. He assured that the matter would be forwarded to the Ethics Committee for thorough investigation, emphasizing the necessity of fairness to all parties involved.
