PEA Prepares for Summer Storms with Enhanced Power System Security

Bangkok: The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) is stepping up its efforts to handle the anticipated summer storms across various regions in the country. The focus is on bolstering the stability of the power system while ensuring public safety and the protection of property.

According to Thai News Agency, PEA has been actively conducting thorough inspections and maintenance of the electrical system, particularly at high-risk locations. The authority is also expediting the trimming of tree branches near power lines to mitigate the risk of damage. In addition, PEA is working in coordination with relevant agencies to handle any structures or obstructions that could impact the electrical system. Personnel, tools, equipment, and mobile generators have been prepared to enable a swift response to any incidents.

PEA has established an Emergency Operations Center, commonly referred to as the "War Room," tasked with monitoring the situation around the clock. Executives and staff are assigned to oversee high-risk areas, and power circuits are promptly disconnected at hazardous locations to ensure safety. Coordination with the command center is maintained to manage load and uphold power stability.

Once the storm situation is under control, PEA will expedite the restoration of the power system and continue to provide safety information to the public. The 1129 emergency call center will remain operational 24/7, providing updates on the situation, damage assessment, and repair progress.

PEA emphasizes the importance of swift communication, regular reporting, and immediate action in successfully managing the situation. The public is advised to stay informed through news updates and avoid proximity to power poles, power lines, or high-risk areas during storms for safety.

For reporting power outages, the public can contact the 1129 PEA Contact Center, available 24 hours a day.
