Bangkok: "Pheu Thai" has officially joined forces with the Bhumjaithai Party to form a coalition government, reaffirming its commitment to prioritize the welfare of the populace over party prestige.
According to Thai News Agency, Phumtham Wechayachai, a prominent leader within the Pheu Thai Party, articulated the rationale behind this political alliance. He acknowledged that the decision to collaborate with Bhumjaithai might generate a spectrum of opinions, ranging from approval to dissent, which he described as a natural occurrence in any democratic society.
Wechayachai emphasized that the pivotal consideration is not the alliances themselves but rather the tangible benefits that such a decision will bring to the citizens. He highlighted that while being in opposition may allow for unrestrained expression, holding a position within the government enables the party to implement concrete policies aimed at progressing the economy, enhancing living standards, and tackling issues such as drug abuse, security concerns, and social inequality.
He further clarified that the essence of politics transcends party prestige and is fundamentally about responsibility towards the nation. By being part of the government, Pheu Thai aims to utilize this opportunity to actively contribute to national development. He assured that the party values and respects all differing opinions, especially those from supporters who have voiced concerns about this coalition, and affirmed that these views will influence the party's future strategies and directions.
For the Pheu Thai Party, the exercise of power is solely intended to uplift the people's lives, with public opinion serving as the guiding compass for their decisions.
