Chaiyaphum: A wildfire erupted on Phu Laen Kha mountain, dangerously close to Ban Chon Daen in the Chong Sam Mo Subdistrict, Khon Sawan District. The incident unfolded last night, spreading anxiety among local residents. Prompt action was taken as the village headman reported the situation to provincial authorities.
According to Thai News Agency, the Khon Sawan district chief, along with over 20 officials and water trucks from various subdistricts, responded swiftly to combat the blaze behind Wat Kuhasawan temple. Their coordinated efforts throughout the night successfully contained the fire, although the officials remain on high alert. The fire is suspected to have been started deliberately by villagers aiming to hunt animals and gather forest products, leading to significant forest damage.
This incident is part of a larger issue, with over 200 hotspots detected this year in both national parks and agricultural areas. While the immediate threat behind the temple has subsided, officials continue to monitor high-risk areas, including the vicinity of the Chong Sam Mo Police Station and a nearby gas station.
