Nan: "Chatchart" sends his support to the people of Nan and to the 60 members of the Po Teck Tung Foundation who are stationed there to help with the flood relief. According to Thai News Agency, the Poh Teck Tung Foundation has mobilized 60 rescue workers to assist flood victims in Nan province, continuously distributing food and relief supplies. Meanwhile, Bangkok authorities assess that floodwaters from upstream may flow into Bangkok, but the impact is not expected to be severe. They are also accelerating improvements to 737 flood-prone areas in preparation for the rainy season.
Mr. Wichit Chinwongworakul, Vice Chairman of the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, revealed details of the foundation's deployment to assist people affected by flash floods and sudden inundation in Nan Province. He stated that upon learning of the situation, the foundation sent 60 rescue workers to the area on the night of August 19, 2026, to provide assistance and distribute relief packages containing food, drinking water, medicine, and essential supplies. Each package provides 1,000 meals a day, containing food, drinking water, medicine, and other necessities.
Meanwhile, the foundation has coordinated with 2-3 hospitals in the area to assess the impact of the flooding in the urban area of Nan province and has prepared staff to provide support and care to the public as needed. Although the situation is beginning to improve, it is still the rainy season, so continuous monitoring is necessary. The foundation has also stationed staff in the area to facilitate and assist the public promptly should any further emergencies occur, as it is still impossible to predict which areas may be affected. The Poh Teck Tung Foundation will continue to fully assist the public by distributing donated funds and essential goods to flood victims thoroughly and effectively.
Bangkok Governor Chatchart Sittipunt joined in sending encouragement to the people affected by the flooding in Nan province. He stated that while water from the northern region is expected to flow into Bangkok, the impact is not anticipated to be severe, as water levels in various reservoirs are still at approximately 50% capacity and there is still ample capacity to accommodate more water. Regarding rainfall in Bangkok, he noted that it is currently not heavy. However, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) remains vigilant and has fully prepared for the rainy season, particularly through the repair and improvement of 737 flood-prone areas throughout Bangkok, which is currently nearly 70% complete.
