Prachachart Party Splits as MPs Rally Behind Anutin for Prime Minister

Bangkok: In a significant political development, five members of parliament from the Prachachart Party have decisively aligned themselves with the coalition government led by Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, signaling a pivotal shift in political allegiances. Mr. Chaiyanok Chidchob, Secretary-General of the Bhumjaithai Party, officially welcomed Mr. Sukarno Mata and his team from Yala and Narathiwat, who have expressed their full support for Mr. Anutin as Prime Minister. Mr. Sukarno emphasized that this move represents a unanimous decision by the party, aimed at honoring the majority vote that positioned Bhumjaithai as the leading party. Although the Prachachart Party's leader, Pol. Col. Tawee Sodsong, was unable to attend, he conveyed his support through a message, ensuring that all five MPs remain committed to the party's resolution.

According to Thai News Agency, previous disputes, such as the Khao Kradong case and the investigation into senatorial collusion, were addressed by Mr. Sukarno as matters of duty that have concluded. He likened political proceedings to sports, where post-game camaraderie is possible. Representing a smaller party from the southern border, Mr. Sukarno expressed that joining the government would allow them to better address regional issues, with the stipulation that any laws contrary to Islamic principles would not be supported.

Meanwhile, the Bhumjaithai Party, represented by spokesperson Ms. Boonthida Somchai, highlighted the strategic intention to consolidate political support while awaiting feedback from the Election Commission. This alignment by the Prachachart Party marks a significant step towards forming the "Anutin 1" government, with plans becoming clearer despite circulating rumors regarding the potential nullification of the election. The Prachachart Party remains unperturbed by such rumors, entrusting independent bodies to evaluate any allegations based on available evidence.
