Samut Sakhon:Mr. Achariya Ruangratanapong, the president of the Crime Victims Assistance Association, was apprehended by cyber police at the Om Noi boxing stadium. The arrest followed a warrant issued by the Criminal Court, citing serious allegations.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Achariya is facing charges including public fraud, money laundering, and illegal gambling related to boxing matches. Additionally, he is charged under the Computer Crime Act for allegedly using the Crime Victim Assistance Club to solicit donations fraudulently, which were then used for betting on boxing matches.
Investigations have uncovered that Mr. Achariya used over 100 million baht annually from public donations for gambling purposes. Following his arrest, he was taken to Krathum Baen Police Station to reenact the crime before being transferred to the Technology Crime Suppression Division at the Government Complex.
