Bangkok:The Prime Minister declined to address questions about an investigation involving the husband of Suchada Sangtansap, a Bhumjaithai Party MP for Chaiyaphum, who is allegedly connected to scammers. The inquiry was initiated by Rangsiman Rome, a list MP from the People's Party, who called for a government investigation into the assets of Suchada's husband, whose occupation remains unknown despite reportedly holding significant assets.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, avoided commenting on the investigation request. When questioned by reporters, he simply smiled and nodded, leaving the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation without making further statements.
The situation follows a heated parliamentary session where Rangsiman Rome questioned the Minister of Digital Economy and Society about a separate 40 million baht bribery case. During his speech, he also insinuated that Suchada's husband was involved in transnational crime, prompting a strong protest from Ms. Suchada. She challenged the accusations in parliament, calling them unfounded and damaging, and demanded evidence or a retraction.
Despite Ms. Suchada's protests, Mr. Rangsiman maintained that he had evidence supporting his claims and refused to retract his statement. This led to a chaotic session in parliament, resulting in Ms. Mallika Chiraphanvanich, the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, ordering Mr. Rangsiman's removal from the chamber.
