Prime Minister Meets Army Chief to Discuss Border Readiness and Military Equipment

Bangkok: The Prime Minister convened a meeting with the Army Chief of Staff to discuss border issues, emphasizing the readiness of military equipment. The Prime Minister summoned the Chief of Staff of the Army to a meeting at Khu Fah Building to discuss border issues. He emphasized the readiness of military equipment and stated that supplies would be replenished immediately if depleted, even though it is a caretaker government. He avoided answering whether he would personally chair the Army Headquarters.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul arrived at Government House after lunch and stated that the meeting with General Chaiyapruk Duangprapat, Chief of Staff of the Royal Thai Army, earlier this morning was to inquire about the readiness of all border areas, not just those bordering Cambodia.

When asked if any border areas were of the greatest concern, Mr. Anutin said that there were none at the moment. This was merely a confirmation of preparedness, as the central budget is currently limited. He also stated that they were assessing any unforeseen circumstances and how to respond if such situations arose, including determining what funds would need to be set aside during the caretaker government period. They emphasized the need to be fully prepared.

When asked whether it was possible to purchase military equipment and supplies to prepare for future challenges during the caretaker government period, the Prime Minister said yes. He added that any shortcomings could be addressed within the regular military budget, ensuring everything is ready.

Regarding whether the Prime Minister is suitable to serve as Minister of Defense himself, he avoided answering the question, instead eating a Thai pancake (Khanom Khrok) and saying it wasn't too sweet before walking away.
