Prime Minister Orders Crackdown on Fraudulent Land Nominees

Bangkok: The Prime Minister summoned the Police Chief to discuss the nominee issue and ordered it to be eradicated completely. The Prime Minister summoned the Police Chief for a meeting to discuss resolving the issue of nominees fraudulently claiming land rights to expand their influence, emphasizing the need to eradicate the problem completely.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul summoned Police General Kittirat Panpetch, the National Police Chief, and Police Lieutenant General Chirapop Phuridej, Assistant National Police Chief, to his office at Government House. The meeting lasted approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. After the discussions concluded, Police General Kittirat declined to give interviews to the press, instead arranging for a vehicle to pick him up from behind the Government House before leaving.

Meanwhile, Police Lieutenant General Chirapop revealed that today the Prime Minister summoned relevant agencies to emphasize the crackdown on foreigners who are breaking the law, both at Freedom Beach in Phuket and on Koh Phangan in Surat Thani, and ordered that they be dealt with decisively. Regarding the Prime Minister's policy directives, Police Lieutenant General Chirapop said that the Prime Minister wants police officers to use the law to deal with and address illegal activities in the country, such as those at Freedom Beach and Koh Phangan, which involve foreign nominees. The operation will be led by Police General Kittirat and Police General Samran Nuanma, Deputy National Police Chiefs, along with a team from the National Police Office, who will work together rigorously to suppress these activities. The Prime Minister emphasized that these activities must be eradicated completely.

Regarding whether visa measures were also discussed, Police Lieutenant General Jirapop admitted that there were some discussions, as it is part of a larger policy to address the issue, which the Prime Minister is currently working on. Regarding whether the police have made any proposals, Pol. Lt. Gen. Jirapop said that the National Police Chief and Deputy National Police Chief have been discussing the details of the matter continuously.
