Prime Minister Orders Immediate Investigation into 2025 Local Government Exam Corruption

Bangkok: The Prime Minister has appointed a committee to investigate corruption in the 2025 local government examinations, effective immediately. He has mandated progress reports every 10 days and set a 30-day deadline for clarity.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, disclosed that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has instructed a comprehensive examination into the alleged corruption in the local government recruitment examination, ensuring transparency and accountability at every stage. The investigation results must be clearly articulated to the public. He also signed Prime Minister's Office Order No. 263/2569, appointing a committee to investigate the facts and legal aspects of the alleged corruption in the 2025 local government recruitment examination. This committee has full authority to conduct a thorough investigation, examine all aspects of the case, and submit a report to the government within a strictly defined timeframe.

The committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilapraphan and including the Minister of Justice as vice-chairman, is tasked with investigating the facts and legal aspects, and preparing a report to be submitted to the Prime Minister within 30 days of July 6, 2026, with progress reports to be provided every 10 days.

The government underscores that the process must be stringent, clear, and transparent at every step, fully addressing public concerns. This initiative serves as an important measure for strengthening preventive and supervisory mechanisms, and for building long-term public trust in the government system.
