Residents of Phoeng Pheng Concerned Over Flood Relief Payments

Phoeng Pheng:Residents of Phoeng Pheng in Pa Mok District, Ang Thong Province, are worried about missing out on compensation as the Chao Phraya River's water levels continue to drop.

According to Thai News Agency, the flood situation in Phoeng Pheng Subdistrict remains dire, with water still inundating the second floors of homes despite receding levels in the Chao Phraya River and Phoeng Pheng Canal. Residents, frustrated with the current government relief measures, have begun using boats to assess the damage to their properties.

The floods have severely damaged homes, with water reaching the second floors and causing significant structural harm. Currently, residents have received only 9,000 baht in assistance based on previous compensation criteria, and they are uncertain about their eligibility under the National Insurance Act. This new law, effective from October 1st, offers initial compensation of 10,000 baht and covers residential damage up to 100,000 baht.
