Bangkok: The Royal Thai Navy has confirmed that the ship reported attacked in the Strait of Hormuz was not a Thai vessel. Thai cargo ships in the area remain safe.
According to Thai News Agency, Rear Admiral Parach Rattanachaiyapan, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Navy, revealed that following reports on social media regarding a commercial vessel in the Gulf of Oman, there were concerns that it might be a Thai-flagged ship. The Royal Thai Navy Operations Center coordinated with the Maritime Security Command Center (MSCC) and the Marine Department's Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) to verify information using the vessel tracking system. The investigation confirmed that the vessel mentioned in the news is not a Thai-flagged vessel.
Furthermore, an inspection of one Thai cargo ship currently operating in the Gulf of Oman, after coordinating with the ship's safety personnel, confirmed that the vessel and its crew are safe and that navigation and mission operations are proceeding normally.
The Royal Thai Navy urges the public to follow information from government agencies and reliable sources, confirming that it will closely monitor the maritime security situation and continuously coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure the safety of Thai vessels and national maritime interests.
Previously, foreign news reports claimed that a Thai-flagged ship was targeted in the Strait of Hormuz.
