Bangkok:The Royal Thai Police have utilized a drone donated by His Majesty the King to deliver food and essential supplies to residents affected by flooding in the Khlong Chan and Keha Rom Klao housing areas.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Maj. Gen. Siriwat Deepo, Deputy Spokesperson of the Royal Thai Police, announced that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul expressed concern for those impacted by flooding in Bangkok, particularly in the Bang Kapi and Lat Krabang Districts. In response, he coordinated with senior police officials to expedite aid to those in need.
In the Rom Klao housing area, the Royal Thai Police deployed a royal donated drone to facilitate a rescue mission, delivering aid to areas with severe flooding. On September 28, 2016, officials conducted operations using two FlyCart 30 drones, making six flights to transport 200 meal boxes, six packs of drinking water, and 300 candles, assisting approximately 200 households.
The supplies were delivered to three primary locations Rom Klao Police Station, the Land Department office nearby, and directly to the rooftops of residents in the Rom Klao housing estate who requested aid, due to ground access difficulties.
Additionally, three M4T drones were used to survey and assess the flooding areas in four flights between 700 PM and midnight. This effort was aimed at gathering data to plan further assistance and support nighttime surveillance.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Siriwat emphasized that the Royal Thai Police continue to work with relevant agencies to monitor the situation and provide ongoing assistance. Residents in flood-affected areas can report incidents or request help 24/7 by calling 191 or 1599, and for traffic information, they can call 1197.
