Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has forecasted scattered thunderstorms in upper Thailand over the next 24 hours.
According to Thai News Agency, there is a 20% chance of rain in Bangkok and its surrounding areas. The anticipated weather conditions are attributed to a moderate high-pressure system or cold air mass from China affecting the Northeast and the South China Sea, which is drawing moisture from the Gulf of Thailand to upper Thailand. Residents are advised to take health precautions due to the changing weather and remain vigilant about potential thunderstorm hazards.
The southern region is also expected to experience scattered thunderstorms as easterly and southeasterly winds affect the Gulf of Thailand, the southern region, and the Andaman Sea. Maritime conditions in the lower Gulf of Thailand and offshore the Andaman Sea are moderate, with wave heights of 1-2 meters, possibly exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorm areas. Mariners in these regions should exercise caution and avoid areas experiencing thunderstorms.
Current air pollution levels in upper Thailand are moderate to fairly high; however, they are expected to decrease in some areas due to better ventilation and possible rainfall.
The regional weather forecast indicates a 20% chance of thunderstorms in Bangkok with temperatures ranging from 24-26 degrees Celsius at night to 33-35 degrees Celsius during the day. Northern Thailand will experience cool weather with morning fog and a 20% chance of thunderstorms in certain provinces, while temperatures will vary from 17-24 degrees Celsius at night to 33-37 degrees Celsius during the day. In the northeastern region, morning temperatures will be between 18-23 degrees Celsius, with daytime temperatures reaching 32-35 degrees Celsius.
The central region is likely to have thunderstorms in 20% of the area, with nighttime temperatures of 23-26 degrees Celsius and daytime temperatures of 34-36 degrees Celsius. The eastern region will see similar chances of thunderstorms, primarily in coastal provinces, with temperatures ranging from 24-26 degrees Celsius at night to 32-36 degrees Celsius during the day.
In southern Thailand, both the east and west coasts might experience a 30% chance of thunderstorms, with varying temperatures and wind conditions. The east coast will see temperatures from 22-25 degrees Celsius at night to 30-34 degrees Celsius during the day, while the west coast will have nighttime temperatures of 23-26 degrees Celsius and daytime temperatures of 32-34 degrees Celsius.
