Pathum Thani: A young man driving a sedan was pursued by a bus and, in an attempt to escape, collided with a woman on a motorcycle, resulting in her injury.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident unfolded when the sedan driver was tailgated and honked at by a bus driver, who then shouted at him to follow to a garage for a settlement. Upon arrival, the bus driver brought along a group, prompting the sedan driver to fear for his and his girlfriend’s safety, leading to a hasty escape during which he failed to notice the motorcycle, causing the collision.
The injured motorcyclist, Ms. Rattanapa, aged 34, recounted that she was unaware of the unfolding altercation before being struck by the sedan, which resulted in injuries to her right elbow, thigh, and a torn big toe.
The sedan driver later reported to Pratunam Chulalongkorn Police Station, explaining that the altercation began on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, where the bus had tailgated and challenged him. Fearing potential violence from the group gathered by the bus driver, he attempted to flee, inadvertently striking Ms. Rattanapa’s motorcycle in the process.
The police have charged the sedan driver with reckless driving causing injury, and he has accepted full responsibility for the incident.
