Bangkok: The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has announced the permanent extension of its suburban train service to Ban Pong Station, operating from Monday to Friday. This move aims to accommodate peak hour travel needs and facilitate passenger convenience.
According to Thai News Agency, the SRT has upgraded its suburban train service by extending the route of train 355/356 from its previous path of Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) - Nong Pla Duk Junction - Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) to now include Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) - Ban Pong - Bangkok (Hua Lamphong). This extension will be operational immediately, catering to the high demand for travel during peak hours.
The adjustment in the service model comes after an assessment of recent travel demand, which indicated an increased need for services in the destination areas, particularly on weekdays. As a response, the SRT is expanding its destination areas to enhance convenience, reduce congestion, and offer more travel options for the public. The details of the updated schedule are as follows:
1. Monday - Friday
- Suburban train No. 355/356 will operate on the Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) - Ban Pong - Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) route.
2. Saturday
- Suburban train No. 356/355 will serve the Nong Pla Duk Junction - Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) - Suphan Buri route.
3. Sunday
- Suburban train No. 356/355 will operate on the Suphan Buri - Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) - Nong Pla Duk Junction route.
This initiative aligns with the State Railway of Thailand's policy to develop its rail transport system to better accommodate the travel behavior and needs of the public at different times of the day, while also enhancing the overall efficiency of train operations management.
