Bangkok: Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, has directed the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) to conduct a thorough investigation into the business operations of Top Up To Rich Co., Ltd. The directive comes after receiving a report from more than 10 complainants who petitioned the OCPB on September 1st. The minister has set a one-week deadline for the investigation to ensure consumers receive prompt clarification.
According to Thai News Agency, the investigation will scrutinize various aspects of the company's operations. This includes the purchase of access rights to the ITS system, participation in the business plan, and the delivery of products or services as advertised. The OCPB will examine purchase orders, invoices, and proof of payment, alongside the actual system usage and eligibility for compensation. The company will have the opportunity to present their side and submit system data for comparison with the complainants' evidence.
The Consumer Protection Board (CPB) noted that Top Up To Rich Co., Ltd. has been registered for direct selling since 2012, and its internal practices such as advertising and compensation packages will be examined for compliance with the law. Previous complaints filed between 2013 and 2016 were resolved through negotiations, resulting in refunds for the complainants. The current complaints filed on September 1, 2016, are being individually assessed for factual damage.
The CPB is also investigating claims of over 40 victims and damages exceeding 100 million baht. They are verifying the figures and supporting documents to conclude the actual number of victims and total damages. The case is also under judicial consideration, and the CPB is conducting its investigation without interfering with the legal process.
Minister Supamas emphasized the importance of a straightforward investigation, ensuring complainants receive answers based on evidence, while allowing the company to present its case. If any legal violations are found, immediate action will be taken within the CPB's authority. For issues beyond its jurisdiction, the CPB will coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure a comprehensive resolution.
