Tae Mongkolkitt Announces Party’s Intent to Join Government Without Rush

Bangkok: Tae Mongkolkitt, leader of the New Alternative Party, has stated that his party will join the government but emphasized there is no urgency in finalizing negotiations. He suggested that the election might soon be declared invalid and proposed keeping any deposit for government participation for future elections.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Mongkolkitt Suksintharanon, Secretary-General of the New Alternative Party, addressed the issue of political parties requiring deposits of 5-10 million baht to form a government, urging them to retract such demands amid potential election invalidation. He asserted that the New Alternative Party would not pay any deposit due to the chaotic nature of the recent election. He suggested that funds allocated for ministerial negotiations should be reserved for the next election campaign.

When questioned about any approaches for deals, Mr. Mongkolkitt expressed a reluctance to engage, citing his short memory and previous instances where he forgot past agreements. He humorously remarked on his artistic temperament, which leads to forgetfulness after he sleeps. He explained that any potential nominations, like that of Mr. Rachen Trakulwiang as a party-list MP, require careful consideration due to his variable moods.

Mr. Mongkolkitt advised coalition parties not to hasten in forming a government, advising them to await the Constitutional Court's ruling. He warned against the illusion of power, noting that real power, if not gained honestly, is fleeting. He expressed satisfaction with the Election Commission's vote count, despite perceiving greater public support. He criticized the prevalent vote-buying practice in Thailand, dismissing politicians who engage in it as "thieves who hire the public to vote."

Mr. Mongkolkitt concluded by emphasizing the value of integrity in politics, urging honest MPs to step forward and prove their sincerity, while dismissing any engagement with corrupt individuals.
