Taro and Srinakharinwirot University Launch “Save the World Box” Initiative to Transform Waste into Energy

Bangkok: Taro has teamed up with Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) to embark on the second year of its eco-friendly campaign, "Taro Loves the Earth Year 2," by introducing the "Save the World Box." This initiative aims to convert snack packaging into clean energy, engaging students and the public in sustainable waste management practices.

According to Thai News Agency, Taro is expanding its commitment to the circular economy by partnering with the Central Library of Srinakharinwirot University. A memorandum of understanding was signed to foster a systematic waste management network and promote sustainable learning. This collaboration invites widespread participation in the Waste-to-Energy pathway, aiming to reduce orphaned waste and empower society to address climate change.

Premier Marketing Public Company Limited, the producer of Taro snacks, announced this collaboration, highlighting a joint effort with Srinakharinwirot University to expand the "Taro Loves the Earth Year 2" project. The signing ceremony was attended by key figures from both the university and company, marking a significant step in promoting environmental conservation and sustainable practices.

Mr. Piya Somutkhojorn, Managing Director of Premier Marketing, emphasized the company's dedication to sustainable shared success, which includes systematic waste management and reducing plastic waste through the Waste-to-Energy process. This project builds on the previous year's success, enhancing the company's commitment to mitigating global warming.

The collaboration with the education sector marks an essential upgrade in the Taro Loves the Earth project's mission. The initiative involves students, university staff, and the general public in creative activities that emphasize the importance of proper waste separation and recycling into clean energy, reinforcing environmental responsibility.

The "Taro Loves the Earth, Saves the World Box" project aims to enhance awareness of the circular economy, promoting the reduction of new resource use and adding value to leftover materials. This project builds on the successful 2015 "Taro Loves the Earth, Lucky Draw" campaign, which significantly reduced landfill waste by converting collected plastic packaging into fuel.

The initiative continues to focus on creating learning opportunities through various activities, encouraging participants to apply this knowledge in their daily lives. The project aims to foster positive environmental behaviors and contribute to building a sustainable society.

Professor Dr. Cholwit Chiarajit, President of Srinakharinwirot University, expressed that this collaboration represents a significant step in uniting efforts between government and private sectors. It aims to provide students and the community with practical conservation knowledge through creative activities, fostering a culture of responsible resource management.

Srinakharinwirot University has always emphasized the importance of education for growth, fostering intellectual development alongside environmental awareness. The collaboration with Taro is seen as a driving force in creating a new generation of conservation-minded leaders.
