Thai Agricultural Museum and National Institute of Metrology Join Forces for Smart Agriculture Development

Bangkok: The Agricultural Museum of Thailand and the National Institute of Metrology have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at advancing smart agriculture in the country. The organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to integrate and disseminate knowledge in agriculture, science, technology, and innovation to enhance the agricultural sector's ability to adapt to global changes. Senior executives from both organizations participated in the signing ceremony.

According to Thai News Agency, Chief Petty Officer Prasert Malai, Director of the Agricultural Museum, emphasized the significance of this collaboration in merging the King's agricultural philosophy with modern scientific and technological advancements. The initiative aims to create a learning model that meets the demands of contemporary agricultural development. By leveraging scientific knowledge, research, and technology, the project aspires to establish efficient production models, reduce costs, enhance product quality, and empower Thai farmers to become self-reliant and sustainable Smart Farmers.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Pornchai Suteerakun, Director of the National Institute of Metrology, highlighted the importance of applying metrology, science, and innovation to benefit sectors like agriculture, which is fundamental to the country. He noted that continuous research and development in measurement technologies, sensor systems, and IoT applications are crucial for boosting agricultural production efficiency. The collaboration with the Agricultural Museum is designed to translate research into practical applications, benefiting farmers and communities while strengthening the Thai agricultural sector to adapt to global changes.

The MOU extends the cooperation between the two organizations and integrates knowledge across sectors to achieve tangible benefits through research, technology transfer, and collaborative networks. This initiative aims to enhance the potential of Thai farmers, increase the competitiveness of the agricultural sector, and support national development towards stability, prosperity, and sustainability, guided by the philosophy of sufficiency economy.
