Bangkok:Deputy Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Ms. Nan Bunthida Somchai, has responded to warnings from Apple about phone hacking incidents affecting multiple countries. The issue has been referred to the National Security Council (NSC) for further consideration at a meeting scheduled for tomorrow.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Somchai discussed the hacking incidents involving Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party, and Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the People's Party. Both individuals received hacking alerts from Apple, which occurred close to a no-confidence debate. Ms. Somchai emphasized that the alerts were global and not limited to Thailand, with origins traced to several countries, primarily Germany. The Ministry is collaborating with the NSC and cyber police to address the issue.
Ms. Somchai also mentioned that while there have been reports of the hacking incidents in the news, no business people have yet to report similar issues to the Ministry or NSC. Since October 30th, meetings have been held to prepare for various cyber threats. She highlighted the need for Mr. Abhisit and Mr. Nattapong to provide information for investigation rather than being formally requested. The Ministry aims to ascertain whether the alerts were issued by the companies involved and to coordinate with them for further details.
