Thai PBS Budget Audit Reveals Allegations of Mismanagement

Baku:The Office of the Auditor General of Thailand (OAG) has disclosed the findings of its audit concerning the budget spending of Thai PBS. The audit was initiated following complaints of alleged budget misuse by high-ranking officials within the organization.

According to Thai News Agency, the State Audit Office (SAO) conducted a press conference addressing the complaints from Thai PBS officials. These complaints prompted the formation of an investigation team in January. So far, two reports have been published, and a summary of individual misconduct is being prepared.

Deputy Auditor General Suthipong Boonniti, acting as spokesperson for the OAG, indicated that complaints received in late 2025 pointed to possible violations of laws, regulations, and government procedures. The complaints also suggested intentional harm to the organization.

The primary issues raised involve the procurement of news personnel, the potentially unlawful use of organizational assets by senior officials, and inefficient management. To ensure a comprehensive investigation, Auditor General Ms. Mathulee Yogi has been leading a dedicated working group since January 26th. This group is tasked with verifying compliance with procurement regulations, assessing organizational efficiency, and probing into individual misconduct.

Two reports have already been issued by the OAG. The first, released on October 2nd, evaluates the organization’s achievements and operational efficiency. Based on this, Thai PBS is formulating a development plan. The second report, issued on October 9th, focuses on adherence to laws and regulations in procurement practices. A forthcoming report on individual misconduct is anticipated. The OAG has assured that the audit process followed legal protocols, allowing stakeholders to provide their input before releasing the official results. There is also a possibility that the case might be referred to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) if substantial evidence of corruption is found.
