Thailand Set to Host IMF-World Bank 2026 Meeting

Bangkok: Thailand has confirmed its readiness to host the IMF-World Bank 2026 meeting from October 12-18, expecting over 15,000 participants. This is projected to boost capital inflows in the fourth quarter and leverage the global platform to promote Thailand as a "connector economy" for global economic cooperation. Four Thai policies will be presented to inform the design of global economic policies.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Ekniti Nitithanprapha, revealed Thailand's readiness to host the 2026 IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings, scheduled for October 12-18. This marks Thailand's second time hosting the event since 1991. With an expected attendance of over 15,000, the meeting is projected to stimulate investment in the fourth quarter and provide opportunities for business matching between Thai entrepreneurs and global investors, fostering long-term economic growth. Thailand will showcase its potential on the global stage as a "Connector Economy," bridging cooperation amidst the conflicts of global superpowers.

This allows for the design of global economic policies based on Thailand's economic policies, which will be presented in four key areas: 1) Using AI to assist those in need, by proposing the "Whispering Bird" project, an intelligent tool for skill development and data analysis to help citizens; 2) Energy Transition, showcasing a vision for reducing reliance on fossil fuels and shifting to environmentally friendly clean energy; 3) Labor skills development, by attracting foreign participation in developing modern skills for Thai people; and 4) Building collaborative networks to enhance the country's competitiveness.

For the public sector, the government is preparing to showcase products from communities across the country to world economic leaders to reflect the potential of the "Creative Economy," which uses creativity and local wisdom to add value to products, focusing on both food and Thai products, to the global stage.
