Bangkok: Captain Thammanat Prompao, advisor to the Kla Tham Party, has declared that 30 Members of Parliament are prepared to join the Kla Tham Party on a weekly basis.
According to Thai News Agency, Captain Thammanat confirmed that these MPs will be gradually introduced, and they are anticipated to include both prominent figures and current MPs. He emphasized that many of these MPs owe their political careers to his support, asserting that without his assistance, their journeys would have been more challenging.
Captain Thammanat dismissed notions that the Kla Tham Party is a subsidiary of any other party, clarifying that its formation was intended to establish a genuine political institution. He elaborated that Capt. Anudit and Mr. Karun, former MPs from the Pheu Thai Party, were approached after consulting with former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, ensuring there were no conflicts when they parted ways with their previous affiliations.
In response to speculations regarding the Kla Tham Party's intentions to secure the Interior Minister's seat, Captain Thammanat firmly denied such ambitions. He praised Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul's current performance in the role and stated that the Kla Tham Party lacks the personnel to fill that position. He reiterated that the party's focus is on benefiting the people, rather than competing for ministerial positions.
Addressing concerns about the potential impact of political tensions between the Bhumjaithai and Pheu Thai parties on the government, Captain Thammanat stressed the importance of dialogue in resolving political issues. He advocated for political discussions to avoid military interventions and expressed confidence in the government's stability, despite any internal party disagreements.
Captain Thammanat also touched upon the future of the Kla Tham Party, suggesting that if the party grows its MP base, it could influence ministerial quotas after the next election. However, he assured that the party does not aim to replace the Bhumjaithai Party but rather seeks to have a significant representation to support the populace.
As the timeline for opening parliament approaches, Captain Thammanat acknowledged that political parties must begin organizing themselves. He projected that the current government would remain stable and that political discussions would continue to play a vital role in maintaining harmony within the coalition government.
