Bangkok: Three suspects linked to the ‘dealer gang’ have been arrested following an elaborate plot to attack their rivals. The police announced the arrest of Mr. Noppadol, also known as Jui, Mr. Nopphakun, known as Off, and Mr. Satya, referred to as Kan, along with evidence including two motorcycles. The suspects had ambushed their rivals, injuring Mr. Phongsakorn, while Mr. Suthikiat, known as Aing, managed to escape.
According to Thai News Agency, the suspects were taken to reenact the crime scene by Thung Khru Police Station. The investigation revealed that Mr. A, the alleged leader, had a history of drug involvement and believed Mr. Aing had provided information to the police, leading to the plot against him. Mr. A reportedly hired the suspects to kill Mr. Aing, promising them 10,000 baht upon completion and providing daily allowances for meals.
On the day of the ambush, the suspects were guided to a secluded location on Soi Pracha Uthit 76/1, where they awaited a signal to attack. Post-incident, they abandoned the getaway vehicle and weapon near the Bang Mot Canal Bridge before fleeing separately. Ms. Supattra, who served as a decoy, had established contact with Mr. Aing through Facebook to lower his defenses before orchestrating the meeting on January 26.
Pol. Col. Chumphon Sinsiripong, Superintendent of Thung Kru Police Station, disclosed that the suspects confessed and provided consistent accounts during interrogation. Despite this, the gun from the crime scene remains unrecovered, prompting ongoing investigations to identify the mastermind behind the plot.
The suspects face multiple charges, including attempted murder, firearm possession, and public endangerment. They are set to be presented to the Thonburi Criminal Court for detention, with police opposing bail due to the severity of the charges and the risk of flight.
