Thunderstorms Predicted to Cover 70% of Bangkok and Regions Across Thailand

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast indicating that thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected to impact Thailand extensively, with Bangkok and its vicinity experiencing rain in 70% of the area.

According to Thai News Agency, the weather forecast for the next 24 hours predicts that the upper part of Thailand will continue to experience thunderstorms and heavy rain. Residents are advised to exercise caution and avoid traveling through areas with thunderstorms and routes prone to flooding, especially in low-lying areas with insufficient drainage. Such conditions may lead to temporary flooding. The public is also advised to avoid staying in open areas, under large trees, or near unstable structures. Farmers are urged to protect their crops and livestock from potential damage and to take care of their health amid the changing weather conditions. These weather conditions are attributed to a moderate high-pressure area from China, which is affecting the South China Sea and bringing moisture from the Gulf of Thailand and the South China Sea over the upper part of Thailand.

In the southern regions, heavy rainfall is expected in certain areas, increasing the risk of flash floods and forest runoff, particularly in hillside regions near waterways. This is due to moderate southwesterly winds affecting the Andaman Sea, the South, and the Gulf of Thailand. The Andaman Sea is experiencing moderate waves, with heights ranging from 1 to 2 meters, and even higher in areas with thunderstorms. Mariners in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea are advised to navigate with caution and avoid areas experiencing thunderstorms.

Regarding dust accumulation, the current weather conditions are resulting in low to moderate levels of dust and smog in the upper part of Thailand, with a potential decrease or stabilization due to ongoing rainfall in several areas.
