Accra:The Trade Policy and Strategy Office (TPSO) has unveiled a study on how Thailand can enhance its economic value by leveraging its natural and cultural capital. This initiative focuses on boosting two high-potential business sectors the beauty industry and digital content.
According to Thai News Agency, the study outlines strategies for product development, brand building, and market expansion to bolster revenue for Thai entrepreneurs. It suggests that Thailand can utilize its natural resources, local wisdom, culture, and creativity to develop high-value goods and services. In the global market, where competition extends beyond price and quality to include identity and storytelling, these elements can differentiate Thai products and increase trade opportunities.
The focus on the beauty sector emphasizes Thailand’s strengths in natural raw materials and local wisdom, which can be transformed into unique product identities. The strategy, termed “Enhance-Upgrade-Promote,” aims to add value through innovation and storytelling, upgrade production standards, and access international markets via free trade agreements and e-commerce.
The digital content industry, comprising films, series, animation, and games, has significant potential to capitalize on Thai culture and creativity. The study recommends five development areas, including skill enhancement, standardization, funding access, international promotion, and infrastructure development to connect stakeholders.
Despite these potentials, entrepreneurs in both sectors face challenges such as limited research and development, branding, funding, and intellectual property protection. The TPSO emphasizes the need for systematic support through collaboration among the government, private sector, and academia.
The TPSO plans to use this study to inform policy proposals and work with relevant agencies to support human resource development, innovation, funding, and international market access. The overarching aim is to transform Thailand’s natural and cultural capital into high-value goods and services, ensuring sustainable income for local entrepreneurs.
