Tragic Chinese New Year: Fire Burns Down Shop, Three Family Members Perish in Flames

Krasang: A devastating fire occurred at a grocery store in Krasang District, Buriram Province, claiming the lives of a family during the Chinese New Year celebrations. The tragic incident unfolded around midnight, prompting a response from the Krasang Police Station and local rescue workers. Upon arrival, they discovered the shop engulfed in flames, which had already consumed much of the structure. Firefighters battled the blaze for approximately 40 minutes before gaining control.

According to Thai News Agency, the aftermath of the fire revealed the tragic loss of life. Inside the bedroom of the one-story house, which also served as a general store, the bodies of Mr. Jamrong, age 44, Ms. Kittima, age 45, and their young son, Nong Kato, age 1 year and 8 months, were found embraced in a final hug. The fire caused extensive damage to the building and its merchandise.

A neighbor reported that the shop, operated by the family for 2-3 years, was located across from his own home. On the night of the fire, he noticed smoke emanating from the area near a large freezer. The situation quickly escalated as the fire broke out, accompanied by several explosions, believed to be from a gas tank. Despite his attempts to alert the villagers and seek assistance, the fire spread rapidly. By the time the firefighters arrived, the family had tragically succumbed to the flames.

Mr. Suthep, the village headman of Suang Noen, stated that he acted swiftly upon receiving the villagers’ report by contacting the fire department. Unfortunately, by the time help arrived, the fire had already destroyed much of the shop’s rear. Initial efforts to locate the family were unsuccessful, leading to the grim realization that they were trapped inside. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, pending further investigation by forensic officers.
