Chiba:Japan The death toll from Typhoon Dujuan has increased to 14, a week after heavy rains impacted Kanagawa and Chiba prefectures near Tokyo.
According to Thai News Agency, a woman in her 20s in Miura, Kanagawa, and a man in his 60s in Ichihara, Chiba, were confirmed dead on Monday. In Nagara, Chiba, local police and fire departments are searching for a man in his 70s, believed to have been caught in a landslide while driving.
Chiba prefecture experienced significant damage due to the typhoon, with areas near the major lake Inbanuma still flooded after a levee breach. The Chiba prefectural government reported over 200 damaged homes and about 1,600 flooded homes as of 4 pm Monday. Approximately 3,900 homes are still without electricity, and around 450 lack running water.
About 160 people are currently staying in evacuation centers. In Ichihara, power outages have affected around 2,000 homes, prompting the Self-Defense Forces to begin clearing fallen trees.
