Suphan buri: A van collided with a passenger van carrying students, then swerved and hit an 18-wheeler truck, causing numerous injuries.
According to Thai News Agency, Bang Plama Police Station received a report of an accident involving a school bus and an 18-wheeler truck at a U-turn in Salai Subdistrict, Bang Plama District, Suphan Buri Province, on Highway 340, Bang Bua Thong route, heading towards Suphan Buri. They traveled to the scene to investigate along with rescue workers from the Nen Kaew Highway Rescue Foundation of Suphan Buri, the Samerkan Suphan Buri Foundation, and emergency medical personnel from Bang Plama Hospital.
At the scene, a white student van was found to have rear-ended a yellow student transport van. Both vehicles then veered off course and crashed into an 18-wheeler truck parked on the side of the road. The student transport van was severely damaged, with shattered windows. Rescue workers initially transported the students to Bang Plama Hospital.
Initial investigations revealed that a white van transporting students and a yellow minibus, both full of students, were involved in the accident. Two people were initially trapped inside the vehicles and were rescued using hydraulic cutters before being transported to Bang Plama Hospital. Preliminary reports indicate 24 injured students from Suang Sumar Phadungwit School, Suphanburi School, Sangwan Ying School, and Kanchanaphisek Wittayalai School, both primary and secondary levels. Bang Plama Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident at the scene.
