Washington: Vietnamese leaders received assurances from U.S. leaders during their first bilateral meeting that the U.S. would seek to remove Vietnam from the list of countries restricted from accessing U.S. advanced technology.
According to Thai News Agency, the Vietnamese state news website reported that To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, met with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House yesterday. This was their first official meeting since Lam, who holds the most influential political position in the country, attended the first meeting of the peace committee established by Trump. The U.S. president promised to find ways to remove Vietnam from the list of countries restricted from accessing U.S. advanced technology.
The bilateral discussions followed the announcement on February 18th by three Vietnamese airlines of an agreement to purchase 90 US Boeing aircraft worth nearly US$37 billion (almost 1.15 trillion baht).
