Wisut Asserts Chalerm Will Uphold Etiquette Amid No-Confidence Debate

Bangkok: "Wisut" believes "Chalerm" will not stand up to question the no-confidence because it is against etiquette. "Wisut" threatens the opposition that if the time is exceeded, he may propose to close the debate. He emphasized that he is still with Pheu Thai and told "Big Pom" to give him the strength to move forward.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wisut Chainarun, MP for the Pheu Thai Party (PTP) and Chairman of the Government Coalition Coordination Committee (Government Whip), addressed the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra. He expressed uncertainty over maintaining control within the specified time frame of the debate, which is set for 28 hours. He stated that if the time is exceeded, the government has the right to propose closing the debate, urging all parties to consider the situation carefully.

When questioned about his confidence in retaining the government's votes, Mr. Wisut assured that there would be no loss of votes. He also mentioned that there would likely be no increase in votes, dismissing the notion of acquiring "cobras," or defectors from other parties.

In response to inquiries about Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan, MP for the party list and leader of the Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP), potentially joining the debate, Mr. Wisut acknowledged it as Gen. Prawit's right but was uncertain about his participation. He maintained that the government would not object and expressed a hope for Gen. Prawit to have the strength to engage in the debate.

Regarding rumors of Pol. Lt. Col. Chalerm Yubamrung, a Pheu Thai Party-list MP, possibly joining the opposition in the debate, Mr. Wisut affirmed that Pol. Lt. Col. Chalerm remains with the Pheu Thai Party. He stated that participating in such a manner would be impolite, noting Chalerm's stature as an adult and expressing belief that he would not act against party etiquette.
