Xi Jinping Highlights Strategic Stability in U.S.-China Relations

Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping praised the new direction of relations with the United States following the first day of their summit with President Donald Trump today. This new approach focuses on expanding cooperation while maintaining a healthy level of competition.

According to Thai News Agency, the Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying that the two leaders agreed to build a constructive and strategically stable relationship, which will be the main direction of relations between the two countries over the next three years and beyond.

Mr. Xi explained that this approach to the relationship is based on cooperation as a core principle, coupled with appropriate levels of competition, in order to achieve normal stability, manage differences between the countries, and lead to lasting stability and the expectation of peace. The Chinese leader also called on both countries to expand cooperation in various fields, including trade, health, agriculture, tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and law enforcement.

However, while Xi Jinping emphasized cooperation, he also warned the United States to exercise extreme caution in handling the Taiwan issue. He stressed that if this issue was handled improperly, the two countries could confront or even conflict, which would push the overall relationship between China and the United States into an extremely dangerous situation.
