Bangkok: The Administrative Court held an urgent hearing on the case to postpone the Social Security Board election. Satsathram gave a two-hour explanation, confirming that 11.9 million insured persons are negatively affected. The court awaits a ruling.
According to Thai News Agency, reporters have stated that after the Progressive Social Security Team, led by Mr. Satharam Thammabussadee, a former Social Security Board member representing insured persons, along with representatives of employer and employee candidates for the Social Security Board, filed a lawsuit with the Central Administrative Court to request the annulment of the postponement of the Social Security Board election and to order the election to proceed as scheduled on September 27th, allowing eligible voters to cast their ballots without prior registration.
In the afternoon, the Administrative Court held an emergency hearing where Mr. Satharam gave testimony for over two hours. Following the hearing, he stated that the court informed him of its decision and would issue an order as soon as possible. During the hearing, he explained the impact of postponing the Social Security Board elections on all 11.9 million insured individuals. He noted that the current caretaker Social Security Board has prevented the Subcommittee on Benefits Development from meeting to consider unemployment benefits, old-age pensions, and child support, thus depriving insured individuals of their benefits.
"From now on, we will have to wait for the court's order to inform us whether there will be an injunction or temporary protection against the petition of the Progressive Social Security Team. If there is an injunction or protection order, the election will have to be held as scheduled on September 27, 2026," Mr. Satharam said.
