Beijing: "Supamas" expressed her excitement as the Thai film "Flying for Dreams" was chosen as one of the top four inspirational foreign films at the Beijing Children's Film Festival. Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office and Chairperson of the Safe and Creative Media Development Fund, along with Mr. Thanakorn Srisukhsai, Manager of the Safe and Creative Media Development Fund, announced that the film supported by the fund, titled "A Time to Fly," has been selected for screening at the 18th China Children's Film Week. This event is scheduled to take place from August 7 to 9, 2026, in Beijing, China, featuring one of four foreign films selected this year.
According to Thai News Agency, this participation aligns with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's policy following his recent visit to China aimed at strengthening Thai-Chinese relations. The Prime Minister urged all agencies to foster concrete cooperation between the two countries. Ms. Suphamas tasked the Media Development Fund Office with leveraging this opportunity to expand cooperation in the media and film industry and to promote Thai content in the Chinese market.
Ms. Suphamas emphasized the importance of disseminating excellent projects supported by the fund, noting that they have not always been fully developed for international markets. She has directed the office to compile a database of intellectual property for both completed and ongoing projects to create added value. The screening of "Flying for Dreams" in Beijing signifies the potential of Thai films to reach international audiences.
The 18th China Children's Film Week showcased the "Inspiring Sports Films for Youth" exhibition under the theme "Sports Heals the Mind, the Light of Film Protects the Future." Organized by the Children's Film Committee of the China Film Association and in collaboration with other partners, this year's exhibition featured ten outstanding films from China and abroad, spanning various sports in both live-action and animation formats. Screenings were held at the China Film Museum and the Beijing Youth Palace Cinema, accompanied by post-screening Q and A sessions and film art classes for youth.
Mr. Thanakorn Srisukhsai noted that "Flying for Dreams" is set to be screened on August 8th. He, alongside fund executives and Mr. Trithep Thaikuruphan, an executive from CU United Extension overseeing communication innovation at Chulalongkorn University, will attend the event. This opportunity to screen alongside internationally acclaimed films is a testament to the success of Thai cinema. Additionally, the team is preparing other content from the fund to explore market expansion opportunities at the event.
Ms. Suphamas highlighted the potential of safe and creative media to extend beyond domestic campaigns, reaching international markets and generating income for Thai creative professionals.
