Anucha Burapachaisri Proposes Giant Tunnel for Flood Solution in Lat Phrao

Lat phrao: Mr. Anucha Burapachaisri, the Democrat Party's candidate for Bangkok Governor, continued his vigorous campaign efforts in Lat Phrao district, accompanied by prominent party figures, including Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, the party leader. The campaign visit, which took place at the Amornphan 9 Market, aimed to address pressing issues in the district, particularly recurring flooding and the need for improved community public health.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anucha emphasized that the persistent flooding in Lat Phrao requires more than just routine drainage maintenance. He outlined a comprehensive plan to construct a significant drainage tunnel designed to expedite water diversion into the Chao Phraya River and the Gulf of Thailand. This plan includes enhancing the efficiency of existing pumping stations and sluice gates. To address stagnant floodwater, the proposal includes deploying mobile pumps and municipal officers to manage traffic flow and upgrade minor drainage routes for better integration with main pipes.

The campaign also highlighted transportation and public health improvements. Mr. Anucha advocated for the "Feeder" transportation system policy, aiming to connect communities with the BTS Skytrain and MRT subway systems. He also proposed upgrading health centers to offer both general and specialized medical care, in partnership with local clinics and BMA-affiliated hospitals. Additional measures include constructing more retirement homes and employing retired individuals as volunteers, fostering an inclusive community.

Mr. Anucha expressed confidence in the Democrat Party's longstanding dedication to Bangkok's districts, urging the public to trust in their commitment to serve effectively. He emphasized that electing Democrat Party representatives will bolster efforts to address Bangkok's challenges comprehensively and improve the city on both local and national fronts.
