Anutin Charnvirakul’s Official Visit to Malaysia Strengthens Bilateral Relations

Kuala lumpur: The Prime Minister of Thailand, Anutin Charnvirakul, embarked on an official visit to Malaysia, where he was personally welcomed by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. The visit aims to bolster diplomatic ties, expand trade and investment opportunities, and foster cooperation for the benefit of citizens in both nations.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that Prime Minister Anutin and his delegation arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, greeted by high-ranking Malaysian officials and representatives from the Royal Thai Embassy. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim extended a personal welcome before escorting Anutin to the official welcoming ceremony at the airport's VIP lounge. The leaders inspected the Guard of Honour before traveling together to the Perdana Putra Complex in Putrajaya for further discussions.

Ms. Rachada emphasized that this warm reception underscores the strong relationship and trust between the two countries, serving as a foundation for productive collaboration. The focus of the discussions includes expanding trade, investment, and cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, tourism, and logistics, with the aim of enhancing economic opportunities and improving quality of life for citizens.

The bilateral talks will also address security cooperation, targeting transnational crime, human trafficking, and online fraud, as well as coordination within the ASEAN framework to ensure regional safety and stability. Such efforts are deemed essential for supporting trade, investment, and tourism.

In the afternoon, Prime Ministers Anutin and Anwar are scheduled for a private four-eye meeting, followed by a full bilateral meeting. The agenda includes exchanging views on potential cooperation areas, witnessing the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) relating to agriculture, and participating in a joint press conference.

The Malaysian Prime Minister will host a luncheon in honor of Anutin and his delegation, after which Anutin will meet with Thai business representatives in Malaysia to foster trade and investment relations and support the expansion of Thai businesses.

Ms. Rachada stated, 'The government aims to ensure that the good relationship between Thailand and Malaysia benefits the people in a tangible way, whether through increasing opportunities for trade, investment, tourism, job creation, and improving the quality of life for people in both countries. Together, we will strengthen the ASEAN community to ensure stable and sustainable growth.'
