Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, welcomed a delegation from the Chinese National People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) to Thailand, emphasizing the longstanding and brotherly relationship between Thailand and China. The meeting was held in a cordial environment, underscored by mutual trust and cooperation across various dimensions.
According to Thai News Agency, the delegation included Ms. Xian Hui, Vice Chair of the CPPCC, along with over 19 delegates such as Mr. Zhang Jianwei, the Chinese Ambassador to Thailand; Mr. Dai Dongchang, Vice Chair of the Economic Affairs Committee; Mr. Tian Peiyan, Commissioner of the Social and Legal Affairs Committee; and Mr. Yao Jianhong, Commissioner of the Education, Science, Health, and Sports Committee. The visit took place from June 11-12, 2026, at the invitation of the Thai Senate.
The Prime Minister warmly welcomed the Vice Chairman and praised the significance of the visit, which signifies the importance China places on its relationship with Thailand. The discussions were described as friendly and respectful, reflecting the close ties between the two nations. The Vice Chairman commended the Prime Minister's efforts in advancing Thai-Chinese relations, likening the friendship between the countries to "one family."
Both leaders agreed on the uniqueness and closeness of Thai-Chinese relations, built on "mutual trust." The Prime Minister highlighted the 2025 royal visit to China, which underscored the strong ties, as noted by Chinese President Xi Jinping, who remarked, "China and Thailand are not strangers, but brothers." The Chinese delegation echoed the sentiment, praising the royal visit and expressing hopes for the Prime Minister's future visit to China to further bolster long-term cooperation.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude towards China for its continuous support in various sectors, including economics, trade, investment, and efforts against transnational crime. The collaboration between the two countries has yielded significant results, showcasing progress and a relationship grounded in trust. Anutin also thanked China for supplying urea fertilizer, a gesture that underscores the partnership and camaraderie between the two nations.
