Bangkok: 'Arsit' is poised to announce the findings of the local government exam cheating scandal after a seven-day investigation period, maintaining that he is unfamiliar with "Kit," the individual mentioned in a controversial audio clip.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Arsit Sampanrat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, addressed the ongoing investigation into alleged corruption in local government examinations. A fact-finding committee, led by Deputy Permanent Secretary Mr. Santithorn Yimlamai, has been examining the case for the past week. Mr. Sampanrat stated that Mr. Santithorn is finalizing the investigation report, which will be presented to him. A public press conference is scheduled to disclose the results, and any involved parties will be held accountable. Additionally, Mr. Sampanrat asserted that he has no acquaintance with "Kit," the individual implicated in the audio recording.
The Ministry of Interior's investigation is complemented by a criminal inquiry conducted by the police. In parallel, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is preparing an investigation timeline, estimated to last between three to six months. The Ministry aims to identify any procedural failings and those responsible.
Mr. Arsit responded to inquiries regarding potential involvement of senior government officials, emphasizing the need to await details from the deputy permanent secretary's investigation. He assured that the findings would be transparently shared with the public, dismissing any possibility of a cover-up.
Communication with the NACC remains ongoing, as both entities pursue their respective investigations. Mr. Arsit acknowledged existing procedural flaws but noted the absence of specific details at this stage.
Addressing rumors of potential legal actions against individuals in the audio clip, Mr. Arsit reiterated the importance of upholding the law. He emphasized that while misinformation should go unpunished, he personally has no involvement in the matter. Additionally, he expressed unawareness of reports concerning a person named "Kit" possibly acknowledging charges at Thung Song Hong Police Station.
Mr. Arsit welcomed the revelation of truth in the case involving "Kit" filing a police report against "Som," expressing satisfaction in the potential identification of the scandal's mastermind. He encouraged anyone with relevant information to report it to the Prime Minister's Office, underscoring the confidentiality of the provided information. Mr. Arsit reaffirmed his lack of association with "Kit," who is reportedly involved in local politics.
