Authorities Intercept 200 kg Crystal Meth Shipment at Pattani Checkpoint

Bangkok: Authorities intercepted a large drug shipment at a security checkpoint in Koh Mo Kaeng, Nong Chik district, Pattani province, seizing 200 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine. They are now working to track down and prosecute the drug trafficking network.

According to Thai News Agency, late yesterday morning, officers from the 43rd Ranger Task Force, on duty at the Koh Mo Kaeng security checkpoint in Nong Chik District, Pattani Province, searched a suspicious white pickup truck with a closed cargo box, license plate ?? 7972 Songkhla, driven by Mr. Suwit, 28 years old. Upon inspection, they found 11 brown cardboard boxes containing methamphetamine (ice), a Category 1 narcotic. Nine boxes contained 18 kilograms of ice, and two boxes contained 19 kilograms, for a total weight of 200 kilograms. The officers confiscated the drugs as evidence.

During questioning, Mr. Suwit stated that he had picked up goods from a company in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, to deliver to another company in Pa Se Mas Subdistrict, Suai Ngai Ko-lok District, Narathiwat Province. However, upon reaching the Koh Mo Kaeng checkpoint, he was stopped and inspected by officials, who discovered the drugs. Mr. Suwit claimed he was unaware that the box contained narcotics.

However, officers from the 43rd Ranger Task Force apprehended the suspects along with the seized evidence and handed them over to investigators at Nong Chik Police Station to record the arrest and proceed with legal action. Regarding this drug shipment, authorities initially believe it belongs to a major drug trafficking network operating in Bangkok, destined for a neighboring country. If this batch had successfully passed through customs, it would have been worth nearly 100 million baht. This arrest is considered a significant achievement in intercepting a large drug shipment, and efforts are underway to track down and prosecute the entire drug network.
