Bangkok:The deadline for flood compensation applications has been extended to November 30th. This extension is part of efforts by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) to provide additional time for residents to gather necessary documents following recent floodwaters.
According to Thai News Agency, Bangkok has increased service points in five districts to reduce congestion, with expanded facilities in Sai Mai, Khlong Sam Wa, Lat Krabang, Min Buri, and Bang Kapi districts to facilitate easier access for residents. In response to queue management issues in Sai Mai, the district office has increased the number of computers used for approvals to 60, advising the public to visit in the afternoon for expedited service.
Ms. Thawida Kamolwech, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, clarified that the repayment of funds for civil servant housing is due to the housing not meeting the Cabinet's criteria. Past document reviews showed that some residences were government-owned housing, which are ineligible for compensation according to regulations. As a result, district offices have requested the return of funds previously distributed.
Many residents have complied, returning funds via Krungthai NEXT or by contacting the district office. Those who used the compensation for home repairs can arrange for installment payments by contacting the district office directly.
