Bangkok:Efforts are underway to restore the Khlong Chan housing estate to normal conditions within two days following recent flooding. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is actively mobilizing resources to achieve this goal.
According to Thai News Agency, Bangkok Governor Chatchart Sittipunt, along with Deputy Governor Pornprom Nawikitseth, visited the Khlong Chan housing estate in Bang Kapi district to oversee recovery efforts. The BMA has deployed approximately 250 personnel and about 20 vehicles, including trucks and water trucks, to clear debris and clean the area. The restoration is expected to be completed in about two days.
Governor Chatchart emphasized the importance of systematic post-flood recovery, employing a "2+1" approach that involves support from unaffected districts. Assistance for the Khlong Chan area is being provided by the Bang Kho Laem and Taling Chan district offices to expedite the process.
The recovery operation involves dividing the area into zones for efficient garbage collection and cleaning. Residents are asked to cooperate by placing garbage in designated areas for collection. They can report garbage locations via Traffy Fondue's reporting menu or by calling 1555.
This recovery effort will serve as a model for future rehabilitation of other flood-affected areas in Bangkok. Water drainage continues to be a focus, especially in eastern areas like Lat Krabang district, where water levels are slowly receding. In Bang Kapi district's Ruam Rap Chat community, cleanup efforts are underway, although some residents remain in shelters.
Governor Chatchart has also instructed officials to ensure the well-being of personnel on duty and to provide support for vulnerable groups, including bedridden patients. The coordinated recovery efforts aim to return affected areas to normalcy swiftly, allowing residents to resume their daily lives.
