Bangkok: A gruesome discovery was made when a container holding the body of a young man, encased in cement, was retrieved from a lake. Police are diligently working to identify the deceased as "Uthen."
According to Thai News Agency, the police action followed a missing person report filed by Mr. Uten's relatives, who reported him missing nearly a month ago. Mr. Bird, an accomplice, was arrested on June 26th and confessed to his involvement in concealing the body. Bird revealed that Mr. Sam used a modified speargun loaded with .22 caliber bullets to fatally shoot Mr. Uten.
On the day of the murder, Mr. Sam, under the influence of drugs and alcohol, allegedly killed Mr. Uten in a fit of jealousy after Uten teased his wife. Bird, under threat, was compelled by Sam to place the body in a water tank, cover it with cement, and dump it into the 300-rai lake on the night of May 21st.
Police apprehended Mr. Sam on the same day as Bird's arrest, locating him in a village in Bang Bua Thong district. Although Mr. Sam denied the murder charges, he was taken into custody on drug charges.
During the investigation, police found evidence including a cement mixing bucket transformed into a trash can with red stains resembling blood and holes for rope handles. A sickle, a hoe, a drill kit, and a tow rope were also recovered, along with the firearm used in the crime.
Rescue divers retrieved a blue plastic container from the water yesterday. Forensic experts used an electric saw to open the container, despite breaking three blades in the process. Inside, they found cement mixed with decomposed human remains. Officials confirmed the body is male, and parts had been dismembered and hidden inside. The investigation and identification process to confirm the identity is ongoing.
Over 20 officers executed an arrest warrant for Mr. Sam on charges of "intentional homicide" and "concealing a corpse" at his home in Bang Bua Thong District. Before his arrest, Sam requested to wait for a friend from Pathum Thani Province. Upon his friend's arrival, Sam surrendered to police and was taken to Bang Bua Thong Police Station for legal proceedings. Despite being questioned, Mr. Sam continued to deny the charges.
