Khao saming: A 30-year-old man has been arrested by Khao Saming Police following a violent assault on a 65-year-old individual, who was beaten with a wooden stick before being dragged onto a motorized tricycle and reportedly dumped into a pond. The suspect, identified as Mr. Moss, has remained silent, claiming the victim voluntarily left the vehicle and vanished.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident involved Mr. Moss attacking Mr. Thongyu, 65, with a wooden stick, resulting in severe injuries including broken arms and legs. CCTV footage captured a heated argument between the two before the assault. Following the attack, Mr. Moss fetched a three-wheeled vehicle, loaded Mr. Thongyu into a blue water tank, and transported him to his durian orchard. Both Mr. Moss and Mr. Thongyu subsequently disappeared from the scene.
The altercation took place on the evening of June 30th at Mr. Moss's durian orchard, where police discovered crucial evidence including a white motorcycle, a blood-stained sickle and baton, a pool of blood, and a discarded shotgun near a durian tree. Authorities suspect Mr. Thongyu's body was thrown into a pond over 4 meters deep and have enlisted divers from the Sawang Boon Rescue Association to assist in the search.
At 11:05 PM, police tracked down Mr. Moss at his brother-in-law's residence in Ban Bamron, Thung Nonsee Subdistrict. Officers from Khao Saming Police Station, along with the Trat Provincial Police, faced resistance from Mr. Moss's brother-in-law during the arrest, necessitating patience to successfully detain Mr. Moss for questioning.
Mr. Moss claimed during police questioning that the altercation was unintended and mutual, insisting he transported the injured Mr. Thongyu to the orchard for treatment. He stated that Mr. Thongyu fled upon arrival, prompting Mr. Moss to seek refuge at his brother-in-law's house until apprehended by police. The investigation into the incident and Mr. Thongyu's whereabouts continues.
