Chulaphan Clarifies Jirayu’s Allegations Against Chatchart as Personal, Unrelated to Pheu Thai Party

Bangkok: "Chulaphan" clarified that "Jirayu's" allegations against "Chatchart" were unrelated to the Pheu Thai party and were made in a personal capacity. He also stated that the party has not fielded a candidate for Bangkok governor.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chulaphan Amornvivat, Minister of Labour and leader of the Pheu Thai Party, commented on the case of Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, a former Bangkok MP from the Pheu Thai Party. Mr. Jirayu had posted about alleged corruption within Bangkok's civil service, implicating former Bangkok Governor Mr. Chatchart Sittipunt. Inquiries were made about whether Mr. Jirayu had received any approval from the party regarding his actions. Mr. Chulaphan responded with a laugh, indicating there was no official stance or directive from the party, referring to the absence of any "green light" or "red light" given to Mr. Jirayu.

Mr. Chulaphan elaborated that Mr. Jirayu's actions were based on his personal opinions and information, which might not have been shared with the party. He emphasized that Mr. Jirayu acted within his rights as a private citizen and not as a representative of the Pheu Thai Party. Furthermore, Mr. Chulaphan highlighted that even if Mr. Jirayu were an active party member, it would not obligate all members to act under a uniform framework, as each individual retains the right to independent action.

When questioned about the possibility of Mr. Jirayu being summoned for further questioning, Mr. Chulaphan clarified that there would be no such action. He reiterated that the Pheu Thai Party had not fielded a candidate for the Bangkok gubernatorial elections and that such matters were to be managed by local authorities.
